Ways to cancel YouTube TV

Quick answer
In a web browser, go to YouTube TV, select your profile photo, then Settings, Membership, Manage and Cancel membership. On Android you can use the YouTube TV app instead. Google says you keep access until the end of your payment or free trial period, and it does not refund partial billing periods. If you only need a break, you can pause for 4 weeks up to 6 months, unless you pay through Google Play or a carrier.
How to cancel YouTube TV in a browser
- Go to YouTube TV in a web browser on a computer or phone, and sign in to the account that pays for the membership.
- Select your profile photo.
- Go to Settings, then Membership.
- Select Manage.
- Select Cancel membership, then confirm with Cancel.
Cancelling during a free trial does not end access right away. Google says you keep YouTube TV until the trial ends. If you want access removed immediately, Google says to contact YouTube TV support.
Cancel on Android, iPhone, iPad or a TV
On Android, Google says you can open the YouTube TV app and follow the same path: profile photo, Settings, Membership, Manage, Cancel membership.
On an iPhone or iPad, Google's instructions send you to YouTube TV in a computer or mobile web browser instead of the app. Google's help page also notes that add-on networks can be removed one at a time if you want to keep the base plan.
Google's cancellation steps cover a web browser and the Android app. If you mostly watch on a TV, use a phone or computer browser to cancel. On Roku, Roku says that if you subscribed directly through YouTube TV, you cancel through YouTube TV, not Roku. Our Roku subscriptions guide shows how to tell which company bills you.
If Google Play, Apple or your carrier bills you
Check your receipt or statement to see who charges you, then cancel with that company.
- Google Play: Google says you cannot pause YouTube TV with Google Play billing, but you can cancel and sign up again at any time. In the Play app, go to subscriptions, select YouTube TV and tap Cancel subscription. Google Play notes that uninstalling the app does not cancel. You can check how you are billed at payments.google.com.
- Mobile carrier or internet provider: Google says you cannot pause a plan billed this way, YouTube cannot grant a refund, and your provider's refund rules apply. If you cancel through YouTube TV and sign up again later, Google bills you directly instead of the provider.
- Apple: if your YouTube TV receipt comes from Apple, Apple says to cancel in Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions. Google's YouTube Help says YouTube cannot refund purchases made through Apple billing, so ask Apple. See how to cancel subscriptions on iPhone.
What happens after you cancel
- You keep watching until the end of your payment or free trial period.
- Google does not give refunds or credits for partial billing periods.
- After the period ends, you lose add-on networks and cannot add networks without a membership.
- Recorded programs expire 21 days later. Google keeps your library preferences in case you return.
- If you sign up again, Google says you may not get promotional prices or your earlier recordings.
Google offers a refund when features included with your membership are defective or do not work as stated. If it grants one, you lose access right away. Google says credit card refunds typically take 3 to 5 business days and sometimes up to 10.
Pause YouTube TV instead
If you only need a break, the pause option sits on the same Manage screen. Use the slider to choose the length, then select Pause. Google lists these rules:
- You can pause for 4 weeks up to 6 months.
- The pause starts after your current billing cycle ends.
- While paused, you cannot watch YouTube TV and nothing new records. Earlier recordings are kept until the pause ends, still subject to the 9-month expiration.
- When the pause ends, you are charged your normal monthly price and that date becomes your new billing date.
- You can resume early. The date you resume becomes your new billing date.
- Pausing is not available with Google Play billing or carrier and provider billing.
Confirm the cancellation
- In YouTube TV, go to Settings, then Billing, and view your order history to see your Google charges.
- If Google Play bills you, check payments.google.com for new charges. If a carrier or provider bills you, check its bill.
- On the date your next payment would have been due, check your card or bank statement. A new YouTube TV charge after you cancelled means the cancellation did not go through or another account is paying. Our guide to unexpected and duplicate charges covers what to ask.
