Target price match policy: how to get the 14-day price adjustment
Target refunds the difference if its own price drops within 14 days of purchase. Here is what qualifies, what proof Target accepts and how to ask.

Quick answer
If you buy something at Target and the identical item gets cheaper at Target.com, in Target stores or through an automatic Target Circle deal, Target will match the lower price at checkout or within 14 days after purchase. Bring your receipt to Guest Services for store purchases, or chat or call 1-800-591-3869 for online orders. Target does not match other retailers, and it will not accept screenshots as proof.
What Target's price match covers
Target's Price Match Guarantee covers an identical item (same brand, size, weight, color, quantity and model number) that is now lower at:
- Target.com, for something you bought in a store.
- A Target store, for something you bought on Target.com. Target does not match a lower price at a different Target store for a store purchase.
- An automatic Target Circle deal, the kind that applies when you identify yourself as a member.
How to request a Target price adjustment
- Find the original receipt, digital receipt or packing slip. Target requires one for adjustments after purchase.
- Pull up the current lower price on Target.com, the Target app or the digital ad. In the app, it must show the price for the store you are in.
- For store purchases, go to Guest Services. For Target.com or app orders, chat online or call Target Guest Services at 1-800-591-3869.
- Ask within 14 days of purchase, while the lower price is still live.
Target says screenshots or pictures cannot be accepted. A team member verifies the price on a Target device.
What Target will not price match
Price matches on Target.com items and Target app prices are not available in Alaska and Hawaii.
- Other retailers' prices, including comparison-shopping sites.
- Clearance, closeout, liquidation, damaged, open-package, refurbished and pre-owned items.
- Target Circle Bonuses you tap to add, Target coupons, Registry completion coupons and gift card offers.
- Bundles, deals with a minimum purchase, rebates, free items and financing offers.
- Pre-orders, contract phones, optical, pharmacy and service purchases.
- Pricing errors, and prices from a sale that has already ended.
Target Plus and grocery items
Items from Target Plus Partners get their own 14-day match, against the same partner's lower price on Target.com or a Target Circle deal. Call Guest Services to request it.
Grocery items qualify if they are identical. Produce must match brand, size, weight and quantity, be sold in the same unit (per pound or per item), and stores that are not SuperTargets cannot match per-pound items.
If the item is out of stock
Items do not need to be in stock for a price match. If a sale item is out of stock at your store, ask about a rain check, which Target says holds the sale price for 30 to 45 days depending on the state. Target does not give rain checks for price match requests.

Where Compass+ fits
Spotting a price drop after you buy is one of the things Compass+ is being built to do. That feature is not live yet, and Compass+ will not request adjustments or move money for you.
Today, the Compass assistant runs inside Gerald with a read-only bank connection. It can see your purchases in your transactions, but it does not track product prices.
