Quick answer

Open the DoorDash app or doordash.com, tap the account icon, go to Manage DashPass and tap Cancel Membership. Pick a reason, then select Cancel DashPass. Do this at least 1 day before your renewal date to avoid the next charge. Your benefits last until the end of the current billing period, and DoorDash emails a confirmation. The fee is usually nonrefundable in the US, and cancelling during a free trial ends your benefits right away.

How to cancel DashPass in the app or on doordash.com

  1. Open the DoorDash app or go to doordash.com.
  2. Tap the account icon.
  3. Go to Manage DashPass.
  4. Tap Cancel Membership.
  5. Choose a reason for cancelling and select Select reason.
  6. Select Cancel DashPass.
  7. Select Got it to return to the Manage DashPass page.

DoorDash's terms say you must cancel at least 1 day before your next renewal date. If you renew on January 10, cancel by 11:59:59 pm on January 9 to avoid the next charge.

Cancelling a DashPass free trial

DoorDash says that when a free trial ends, you are enrolled in the plan you picked at sign-up and charged on the day after the trial ends. Our guide to avoiding free trial charges covers how to track end dates.

  • If you cancel during the trial, DoorDash ends your benefits immediately, and its terms say you are not charged.
  • Missed the end date? DoorDash's terms say you can cancel within the first 48 hours of your first paid period after a free trial or promotional period and get a full refund of the fee.
  • DoorDash's terms say trials are only for people who have not had DashPass before, and only one trial or promotional subscription is available per household.

DashPass from a credit card, employer or gift

Free DashPass from a card or employer still runs through your DoorDash account, so you cancel it on the same Manage DashPass page. What matters is what happens when the free period ends.

  • Chase cards: DoorDash says the free period depends on the card. Chase Freedom, Slate and co-brand cardmembers are moved to a paid monthly plan at the then-current rate after the free period. Sapphire cardmembers get complimentary DashPass for a set period that depends on when they activate it.
  • Already paying for DashPass and have an eligible Chase card? DoorDash says activating the Chase benefit replaces your existing membership, and you are no longer charged for it.
  • DoorDash Rewards Mastercard: DoorDash says the free year moves you to the paid DashPass Annual Plan until you cancel. Cancel before the free period ends to avoid the charge. Cancelling during the free period ends benefits right away, but you can re-enroll during the free period to keep them until it ends.
  • Employer plans: DoorDash's terms say a corporate DashPass begins and ends with your employer's corporate subscription, unless it is otherwise cancelled.
  • Gift subscriptions: DoorDash's terms say a gifted DashPass turns into a paid monthly subscription when the gift period ends, charged to your preferred payment method.

What happens after you cancel

  • DoorDash's terms say cancelling stops only future charges. Your benefits stay active until the end of the current billing period.
  • In the US, DoorDash's terms say the DashPass fee is nonrefundable when you cancel, unless the terms or the law say otherwise.
  • For monthly and annual plans, DoorDash may refund the fee if you cancel within the first 48 hours of your first subscription period and have not placed a DashPass-eligible order. That refund is at DoorDash's discretion.
  • If DoorDash cancels your DashPass, its terms say you get a pro rata refund for the prepaid time left, unless it ends your subscription for breaking its terms.
  • Chase card promos that come with DashPass stop when you cancel or unenroll, according to DoorDash.

Pause DashPass instead

DoorDash lets you pause instead of cancelling. On the Manage DashPass page, select Pause Membership, then select Pause DashPass in the pop-up to confirm.

Confirm the cancellation and check your statement

  1. Look for the email DoorDash sends to confirm your DashPass membership has been cancelled.
  2. Open Manage DashPass and check Billing History for past membership charges.
  3. DoorDash says a statement line that reads DoorDash DashPass or DashPass is a membership charge, so check your card or bank statement after your renewal date for a new one.
  4. If a DashPass charge still appears, our guide to unexpected and duplicate charges covers what to ask your bank.

Check for other recurring charges

Delivery memberships often sit next to streaming and shopping memberships on the same statement. Our guide to finding all your subscriptions covers every place to look, and the Money Leak Finder gives a rough yearly cost of charges you no longer use.
