Home Depot gives you 30 days to claim a lower price after you buy, and matches select competitors. Here is what qualifies, what proof to bring and how to ask.

Home Depot matches a lower price on an identical, in-stock item from a local store or a listed online competitor, including Lowe's, Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy and Target. If the price drops after you buy, you have 30 days from the purchase date to ask for the difference, in store or online. Bring your receipt or order number and proof of the lower price, such as a screenshot or link. Clearance, special orders and limited-time promotions are excluded.
Which competitors Home Depot matches
Home Depot matches physical stores in your local area and these online retailers, as long as they can sell and ship the item to your location:
- Lowe's, Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy and Target, when the item is sold and fulfilled by that retailer, not a marketplace seller.
- Menards.
Home Depot does not match auction, marketplace or membership-based sites, such as eBay, Wayfair, Costco or Sam's Club.
Home Depot's 30-day price adjustment
If the price drops within 30 days of your purchase date, Home Depot will refund the difference on request. This applies to in-store and online purchases, and Home Depot says it typically covers lower prices on homedepot.com or at a competitor it matches.
- Confirm the lower price is live on homedepot.com or a matched competitor's site.
- Gather your order number, receipt or other proof of purchase, plus evidence of the lower price, such as a screenshot or link.
- Contact Home Depot by phone, live chat or in a store, within 30 days of purchase.
- Watch for the refund. Home Depot says it is usually, but not always, returned to the original payment method.
How to price match before you buy
If the price changes after you ask, Home Depot says it honors the price at the time of your request.
- In a store: show the cashier or the customer service desk an ad, printout or website link with the competitor's lower price. They verify it before you pay.
- Online: before you order, contact Customer Solutions by live chat or at 1-800-430-3376. Have the homedepot.com SKU or Internet number, the competitor's name and the competitor's item, SKU or part number ready.
What has to match
- Same brand, model number and size. A different finish or color counts as a different product.
- In stock at both Home Depot and the competitor.
- A competitor that operates or delivers in your area.
What Home Depot excludes
For price adjustments after purchase, Home Depot specifically excludes clearance items, special orders and products bought during promotional events.
- Special order and custom items.
- Clearance and closeout items.
- Third-party marketplace sellers and auction sites, such as eBay or Amazon Marketplace.
- Black Friday, flash sales, holiday discounts and other limited-time promotions. A competitor's regular sale price may qualify.
- Volume discounts and contractor pricing.
- Shipping, delivery and installation costs. Home Depot matches the product price only.
- Coupons and promo codes, which cannot be combined with a price match.
