The short answer

Pick the alternative that matches why you're leaving. PocketGuard is the closest feature match, with subscription tracking, bill lowering and cancellation help in one plan. Monarch Money suits households that want a full budget and net-worth view. YNAB fits people who want a hands-on budgeting method. Copilot Money suits Apple users. Quicken Simplifi is the lowest-cost paid option. If you only want to stop unwanted card charges, your card issuer's free tools may be enough.

Why people look for a Rocket Money alternative

Rocket Money's free plan covers subscription tracking, budgeting and bill reminders. The reasons people switch usually sit around the paid parts. Premium is priced on a sliding scale that Rocket Money says can vary over time and across platforms. Until Nov. 2, 2026, bill negotiation is billed separately at a fee you choose of 35–60% of 12-month savings when it succeeds. After that date, Rocket Money's terms say negotiation is only available with Premium+, with no negotiation fee.

Cancellation help also has limits. Rocket Money says subscriptions billed through Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku or PayPal must be cancelled on those platforms, and some providers need account authentication or in-person cancellation.

Other people simply want something different: a deeper budget, a shared household view, or fewer linked accounts. Our Rocket Money review covers the app's strengths and tradeoffs in more detail.

PocketGuard: the closest feature match

PocketGuard is the nearest like-for-like swap. Its Premium plan lists subscription tracking, recurring and upcoming bills, bill lowering and cancelling unwanted subscriptions, alongside budgets, debt payoff plans and goals.

  • Price: $74.99 a year, which works out to $6.25 a month, with a 7-day free trial.
  • Choose it if: you want Rocket Money's mix of tracking and help acting on bills.
  • Watch out: check the terms for any bill-lowering fee before you start a request.

Monarch Money: best for a full household budget

Monarch Money is built for people who want every account, budget and net-worth figure in one place, including partners sharing finances. Its Recurring page scans synced transactions for subscriptions and bills and shows them as a list or calendar.

  • Price: $14.99 a month or $99.99 a year. Your first week is free.
  • Choose it if: Rocket Money's budgeting felt too basic.
  • Watch out: there is no free plan, and Monarch does not cancel subscriptions or negotiate bills for you.

YNAB: best for a hands-on budgeting method

YNAB uses zero-based budgeting, where every dollar gets a job before you spend it. It suits people who want to change how they plan money, not just see where it went. One subscription can be shared with up to five other people.

  • Price: $14.99 a month or $109 a year, with a 34-day free trial and no credit card needed when you sign up directly.
  • Choose it if: you want structure and are willing to check in often.
  • Watch out: it is a budgeting method, not a subscription finder or cancellation service.

Copilot Money: best for Apple users

Copilot Money tracks spending, budgets, investments and net worth, and it flags subscriptions and upcoming bills. You can explore the app before connecting any accounts.

  • Price: $95 a year ($7.92 a month), with a monthly plan also offered.
  • Choose it if: you live on iPhone, iPad or Mac and care about design.
  • Watch out: Copilot lists iPhone, iPad, Mac and web, with no Android app.

Quicken Simplifi: best for a lower price

Quicken Simplifi gives you a spending plan, upcoming bills and subscriptions, savings goals and cash-flow projections, without the depth or price of Monarch or YNAB.

  • Price: $3.99 a month billed annually on the current offer, regularly $6.99 a month.
  • Choose it if: you want solid tracking at the lowest paid price.
  • Watch out: the offer is introductory, so check what renewal costs.

Your card issuer's tools: free, but narrow

If your main goal is stopping unwanted charges, check your bank or card app first. Capital One, for example, identifies subscriptions on its credit cards and lets you block recurring charges or cancel from its app at no extra cost.

The tradeoff is coverage. These tools only see that issuer's cards. To check everything at once, our guide to finding all your subscriptions walks through cards, app stores and email receipts.

When staying with Rocket Money makes sense

Apart from PocketGuard, whose Premium plan lists bill lowering and cancelling unwanted subscriptions, the apps above focus on tracking and budgeting rather than acting on your behalf. If you value that hands-off help and Rocket Money's fees make sense for your bills, staying can be the simpler choice.

You can also stay on the free plan for tracking and handle cancellations yourself with our guide to cancelling subscriptions, or lower bills directly with tips like those in how to lower your internet bill.

How to leave Rocket Money cleanly

  1. Set up your new app first, so you have overlap before Premium ends.
  2. In Rocket Money, open Settings, choose Membership, then Manage. Move the price slider to $0/month and select Cancel Subscription.
  3. Expect Premium to stay active until the end of your billing cycle.
  4. Remember that cancelling Premium does not delete your account. Any active bill negotiations stay in place, and alerts continue until you change your notification settings.
  5. If you paid through Apple or Google Play, confirm the subscription is gone in that app store too.

Where Compass+ fits today

Compass+ is not a Rocket Money replacement today. The standalone app is waitlist-only, and it does not cancel subscriptions, negotiate bills or offer budgeting.

Today the Compass assistant runs inside Gerald with a read-only bank connection for balances and transactions. Compass+ is being built to look for money you may be owed or wasting, such as refunds and duplicate charges. Join the waitlist if that matters to you, and choose an app above if you need these tools now.
